NEPONSET VALLEY RIVER RATS ANNOUNCE FREDDY MEYER AS DIRECTOR OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

The Neponset Valley River Rats are excited to announce that Freddy Meyer will join the organization as Director of Player Development beginning with the 2027–2028 season.
In this role, Meyer will work with players across all age levels within the River Rats organization, providing development, instruction and mentorship. He will also oversee the organization’s skills development program, working closely with coaches to create a consistent development philosophy throughout the program.
Meyer brings an accomplished playing and coaching background to the River Rats. He played 281 NHL games and more than 450 professional games, with NHL stops including the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes and Atlanta Thrashers. Prior to his professional career, Meyer was a standout at Boston University, where he served as team captain, earned First Team All-American honors and was named the 2003 BU Male Athlete of the Year.
Meyer also represented Team USA in multiple international competitions before transitioning into coaching and player development. His coaching experience includes time with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL, the East Coast Wizards Junior A program and The Rivers School. He also founded Dream Big HockeyStars, where he has focused extensively on individual player development and skills training.
